Long Beach Driveline Repair
This week on Orozco’s Auto Blog, we’re gonna talk about your car’s driveline repair. Whether your vehicle is front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, or all wheel drive, all automobiles have a drivetrain which is responsible for delivering power from the engine to the drive wheels.
A vehicle’s driveline turns your axles, which turns your wheels. There are different types, depending on what your vehicle’s drive wheels are. A car’s driveline connects to the transmission and differential through a series of universal joints.
Most universal and CV joints are sealed, and do not require periodic lubrication. However, it is important to have them inspected anytime your car is on a lift for service. Any crack or leak in one of these joints can end up severely damaging your vehicle.
If your vehicle shudders when you accelerate, it could be a sign of a loose or faulty U joint or center bearing. If you hear a loud clunk during shifting, your U joints may be worn out. Roughness, clicking noises, or squeaking sounds at low speed may also be signs of driveline trouble.
Even if you do not have a leak in your driveline system, heat, moisture, extreme pressure, and high load will eventually cause breakdown and contamination of the gear oil lubricating these parts. This will lead to degradation, deposits, and eventually component failure.
Here at Orozco’s Auto Service in Long Beach, we can inspect and repair all parts of your vehicle’s driveline system. We replace worn out fluids and lubricants from transmissions, front and rear differentials, transaxles, and transfer cases with new high performance synthetic lubricant. Your car will shift smoother, operate quieter, and last longer.
